This past year Smashbox was on a roll. They released liquid lipsticks, the eyeshadow palettes and then there was the Primer Water.
Touted as a primer in a spray format for hydrating skin – before, during and after- applying makeup, I picked the small trial version of this from Sephora recently.
It’s scent free (atleast to me) and resembles water in a plastic bottle when you look at it. The texture is watery but not quite. Because it is oil, alcohol and silicone free – it’s safe to use on sensitive, oily and acne prone skins but also on dry / combo skin types making it sort of universal.
I don’t like it as a primer spray because I have oily skin and even in winter this makes my skin overly moist. It would work used like this in a dry environment- which sadly Abu Dhabi doesn’t offer. It works like Mac fix plus minus the scent and a little more hydration. Makeup looks skin like and less powdery. This will not mask pores or reduce texture though so keep that in mind.
I like to use it after I have my makeup on and I have added my finishing powder – Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light- all over. I do set my face with the La Prairie powder on a wet sponge before that. But sometimes even with my oily skin, it can be too powdery and this helps. I spray it onto a beauty blender and press it on my skin. The effect is beautiful.
Also like using it before clay masks to prep skin sometimes. Works like a charm. I have another one in a trial set to get through, so I am happy to have discovered this.
